TITLE: wmFrog Insecure Temporary File Creation Vulnerability SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA13259 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/13259/ CRITICAL: Less critical IMPACT: Privilege escalation WHERE: Local system SOFTWARE: wmFrog 0.x http://secunia.com/product/4316/ DESCRIPTION: Joey Hess has reported a vulnerability in wmFrog, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to perform certain actions on a vulnerable system with escalated privileges. The vulnerability is caused due to temporary files being created insecurely by default. This can be exploited via symlink attacks to create or overwrite arbitrary files on the system with the privileges of the user running wmFrog. The vulnerability has been reported in version 0.1.6. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Use the "-tmp" command line option to specify a secure temporary directory. Grant only trusted users access to affected systems.
