Vacant positions at Secunia: http://secunia.com/secunia_vacancies/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TITLE: FreeBSD Kernel Memory Disclosure Vulnerabilities SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA15262 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/15262/ CRITICAL: Less critical IMPACT: Exposure of sensitive information WHERE: Local system OPERATING SYSTEM: FreeBSD 5.x http://secunia.com/product/1132/ FreeBSD 4.x http://secunia.com/product/139/ DESCRIPTION: Christian S.J. Peron has reported some vulnerabilities in FreeBSD, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to gain knowledge of potentially sensitive information. The vulnerabilities are caused due to various errors in the kernel where variable-sized input is passed to applications in fixed-length buffers without zeroing the unused portion of the buffers. Successful exploitation discloses random data in kernel memory. SOLUTION: Update FreeBSD or apply patch.
