The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the "ieee_putascii()" function and can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow by tricking a user into assembling a specially crafted ASM file. Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code with the privileges of the user running NASM. The vulnerability has been reported in versions 0.98.38 and 0.98.39. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Don't assemble untrusted ASM files.
