DESCRIPTION:
jsk:exworm has reported a vulnerability in gedit, which potentially
can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a format string error in the
handling of filenames for binary files. This may be exploited to
execute arbitrary code by tricking a user into opening a binary file
with a specially crafted filename.

The vulnerability has been reported in version 2.10.2. Other versions
may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Do not open binary files from untrusted sources with strange
filenames.
