DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been reported in AIX, which can be exploited by
malicious users to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).

The vulnerability is caused due to an unspecified error in the ftpd
daemon and can be exploited to consume a large amount of memory
resources or exhausts available ephemeral ports.

The vulnerability affects AIX 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3.

SOLUTION:
An interim fix is available for AIX 5.1.0, 5.2.0, and 5.3.0:
ftp://aix.software.ibm.com/aix/efixes/security/ftpd_ifix.tar.Z

The vendor will also be releasing APARs.
