TITLE: phpwcms Disclosure of Sensitive Information and Cross-Site Scripting SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA17590 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/17590/ CRITICAL: Moderately critical IMPACT: Cross Site Scripting, Exposure of sensitive information WHERE: >From remote SOFTWARE: phpwcms 1.x http://secunia.com/product/6129/ DESCRIPTION: Stefan Lochbihler has reported some vulnerabilities in phpwcms, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks and disclose sensitive information. 1) Input passed to the "form_lang" parameter in "login.php" isn't properly verified, before it is used to include files. This can be exploited to include arbitrary files from local resources. 2) Input passed to the "imgdir" parameter in "random_image.php" isn't properly verified, before it is used to view a random image. This can be exploited to disclose the content of arbitrary files via directory traversal attacks. 3) Certain input passed to "act_newsletter.php" isn't properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site. The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 1.2.5. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly verified and sanitised.
