The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when handling the "Examine" IMAP command. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via an overly long mail folder name. Other IMAP commands such as "Delete" may also be affected. Successful exploitation allows arbitrary code execution. The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 4.4 Build 4.4.000. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Allow only trusted users to access the IMAP server.
