TITLE: phpMyFAQ "add content" Script Insertion Vulnerabilities SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA17649 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/17649/ CRITICAL: Moderately critical IMPACT: Cross Site Scripting WHERE: >From remote SOFTWARE: phpMyFAQ 1.x http://secunia.com/product/3487/ DESCRIPTION: Tobias Klein has reported some vulnerabilities in phpMyFAQ, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct script insertion attacks. Input passed to the "thema", "username", and "usermail" parameters in the "add content" page isn't properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to inject arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious user data is viewed. The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 1.5.3 and prior. SOLUTION: Update to version 1.5.4. http://www.phpmyfaq.de/download.php PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: Tobias Klein ORIGINAL ADVISORY: Tobias Klein: http://www.trapkit.de/advisories/TKADV2005-11-004.txt phpMyFAQ: http://www.phpmyfaq.de/advisory_2005-11-18.php ---------------------------------------------------------------------- About: This Advisory was delivered by Secunia as a free service to help everybody keeping their systems up to date against the latest vulnerabilities.
