TITLE: PluggedOut Nexus SQL Injection and Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerabilities SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA17909 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/17909/ CRITICAL: Moderately critical IMPACT: Cross Site Scripting, Manipulation of data WHERE: >From remote SOFTWARE: PluggedOut Nexus 0.x http://secunia.com/product/6366/ DESCRIPTION: r0t has discovered some vulnerabilities in PluggedOut Nexus, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct SQL injection and cross-site scripting attacks. 1) Input passed to the "firstname", "lastname" and "location" parameters in "search.php" isn't properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code. 2) Input passed to the "firstname", "lastname" and "location" parameters in "search.php" isn't properly sanitised before being returned to the user in an SQL error message. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site. Successful exploitation requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled. The vulnerabilities have been confirmed in version 0.1. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
