TITLE: Dev Hound Script Insertion and Full Path Disclosure SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA18164 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/18164/ CRITICAL: Less critical IMPACT: Cross Site Scripting, Exposure of system information WHERE: >From remote SOFTWARE: Dev Hound 2.x http://secunia.com/product/6590/ DESCRIPTION: Donnie Werner has reported a weakness and a vulnerability in Dev Hound, which can be exploited by malicious users to disclose system information and conduct script insertion attacks. 1) Some input isn't properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to inject arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious user data is viewed. 2) The problem is that it is possible to disclose the full installation path by requesting a non existing DLL file. It has also been reported that user credentials are stored in clear text in the file "devhound.tdbd". The weakness and the vulnerability have been reported in version 2.24 and prior. SOLUTION: Update to version 2.26. http://www.nexusconcepts.com/devhound.html PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: Donnie Werner, exploitlabs ORIGINAL ADVISORY: http://www.exploitlabs.com/files/advisories/EXPL-A-2005-017-devhound.txt ---------------------------------------------------------------------- About: This Advisory was delivered by Secunia as a free service to help everybody keeping their systems up to date against the latest vulnerabilities.
