TITLE: Blender "get_bhead()" Integer Overflow Vulnerability SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA18176 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/18176/ CRITICAL: Moderately critical IMPACT: DoS, System access WHERE: >From remote SOFTWARE: Blender 2.x http://secunia.com/product/5780/ DESCRIPTION: Damian Put has reported a vulnerability in Blender, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or to potentially compromise a user's system. The vulnerability is caused due to an integer overflow in "get_bhead()" in "readfile.c" when parsing ".blend" files. This can be exploited to cause a heap based buffer overflow by tricking a user into opening a specially crafted ".blend" file. Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code. The vulnerability has been reported in versions 2.x through 2.40pre. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Do not open ".blend" files from untrusted sources.
