TITLE: Open-Xchange Webmail HTML Attachment Script Insertion Vulnerability SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA18285 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/18285/ CRITICAL: Moderately critical IMPACT: Cross Site Scripting WHERE: >From remote SOFTWARE: Open-Xchange 0.x http://secunia.com/product/6735/ DESCRIPTION: Thomas Pollet has reported a vulnerability in Open-Xchange, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct script insertion attacks. The vulnerability is caused due to missing sanitisation of HTML attachments before displaying them to the user in the Webmail. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected website when a malicious email is viewed. Successful exploitation requires that inlining of HTML attachments is enabled. The vulnerability has been reported in version 0.8.1-6 and prior. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Disable inlining of HTML attachments in the Webmail options to prevent malicious HTML attachments from being automatically displayed when the email is viewed.
