The vulnerability is caused due to a format string error in "logging.c" when logging certain error messages. This can potentially be exploited by local users to crash the service and may allow arbitrary code execution with root privileges. The vulnerability affects version 1.16.1. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Restrict access of affected systems to trusted users only. Some Linux vendors have issued updated packages.
