TITLE: eStara SoftPhone SIP Packet Handling Buffer Overflow Vulnerability SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA18410 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/18410/ CRITICAL: Highly critical IMPACT: System access WHERE: >From remote SOFTWARE: eStara SoftPhone 3.x http://secunia.com/product/6784/ DESCRIPTION: ZwelL has discovered a vulnerability in eStara SoftPhone, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system. The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the handling of SIP packets that contains SDP session data. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow and allows execution of arbitrary code via a specially-craft SIP packet sent to 5060/udp. The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 3.0.1.46 and also reported in version 3.0.1.14. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Restrict use to within trusted networks only and filter potentially malicious UDP packets with a firewall.
