TITLE: MailSite Cross-Site Scripting and Denial of Service SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA18551 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/18551/ CRITICAL: Less critical IMPACT: Cross Site Scripting, DoS WHERE: >From local network SOFTWARE: MailSite 7.x http://secunia.com/product/6895/ MailSite 6.x http://secunia.com/product/5898/ MailSite 5.x http://secunia.com/product/1698/ DESCRIPTION: Rahul Mohandas has reported two vulnerabilities in MailSite Email Server, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks and cause a DoS (Denial of Service). 1) Input passed in the url to the HTTP Mail Management Agent isn't properly sanitised before being returned to the user in an error message. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of a vulnerable site. Example: http://[host]:90/CGI-BIN/WCONSOLE.DLL?[code] The vulnerability has been reported in version 5.x and 6.1.22. Prior versions may also be affected. 2) An error in the HTTP Management Agent when performing input validation can be exploited to crash the service via specially crafted parameters passed to "/CGI-BIN/WCONSOLE.DLL" The vulnerability has been reported in version 7.0.3.1. Prior versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Apply hotfix. Version 6.x: ftp://ftp.rockliffe.com/MailSite/6.1.22/Hotfixes/ Version 7.x: ftp://ftp.rockliffe.com/MailSite/Latest/Hotfixes/ PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: Rahul Mohandas, OS2A. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- About: This Advisory was delivered by Secunia as a free service to help everybody keeping their systems up to date against the latest vulnerabilities.
