TITLE: MyBB "url" Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA19213 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/19213/ CRITICAL: Less critical IMPACT: Cross Site Scripting WHERE: >From remote SOFTWARE: MyBB (formerly MyBulletinBoard) 1.x http://secunia.com/product/4479/ DESCRIPTION: imei addmimistrator has discovered a vulnerability in MyBB, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks. Input passed to the "url" parameter in "member.php" isn't properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site. Example: http://[victim]/member.php?action=do_login&username=[valid username]&password=[valid password]&url=[code] Successful exploitation requires that the attacker supplies user credentials for a valid account (e.g. the attacker's). The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 1.10 and has also been reported in versions 1.03 and 1.04. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
