TITLE: Manila Multiple Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerabilities SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA19636 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/19636/ CRITICAL: Less critical IMPACT: Cross Site Scripting WHERE: >From remote SOFTWARE: Manila 9.x http://secunia.com/product/9331/ DESCRIPTION: d4igoro has discovered some vulnerabilities in Manila, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks. Input passed to the "mode" parameter in "discuss/msgReader" and input passed to "newsItems/viewDepartment" is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site. Examples: http://[host]/discuss/msgReader$1?mode=[code] http://[host]/newsItems/viewDepartment$[code] The vulnerabilities have been confirmed in version 9.5 using the built-in web server. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Filter malicious characters and character sequences in a proxy server or firewall with URL filtering capabilities.
