TITLE: MediaWiki Script Insertion Vulnerabilities SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA20189 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/20189/ CRITICAL: Moderately critical IMPACT: Cross Site Scripting WHERE: >From remote SOFTWARE: MediaWiki 1.x http://secunia.com/product/2546/ DESCRIPTION: Nick Jenkins has reported some vulnerabilities in MediaWiki, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct script insertion attacks. Some input passed in the variable handler isn't properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to inject arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious user data is viewed. The vulnerabilities have been reported in versions prior to 1.6.6 for the 1.6 branch. SOLUTION: Update to version 1.6.6. http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Download PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: Nick Jenkins ORIGINAL ADVISORY: http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6055 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- About: This Advisory was delivered by Secunia as a free service to help everybody keeping their systems up to date against the latest vulnerabilities.
