DESCRIPTION:
rugginello has discovered a vulnerability in AntiVir PersonalEdition,
which can be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated
privileges.

The vulnerability is caused due to the update.exe process using the
progress bar control which accepts the PBM_GETRANGE and PBM_SETRANGE
messages from arbitrary users and does not verify the IParam
parameter. This can be exploited to write an arbitrary value to an
arbitrary memory address when using the update functionality.

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code with
SYSTEM privileges.

The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 7.0 build 151
(Classic). Other versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Grant only trusted users to affected systems.
