The vulnerability is caused due to an integer overflow within the "fw_ioctl()" function in dev/firewire/fwdev.c. This can be exploited to read the system memory by passing special arguments to the function. The vulnerability is reported in FreeBSD version 5.5. Other versions may also be affected.
