---------------------------------------------------------------------- To improve our services to our customers, we have made a number of additions to the Secunia Advisories and have started translating the advisories to German. The improvements will help our customers to get a better understanding of how we reached our conclusions, how it was rated, our thoughts on exploitation, attack vectors, and scenarios. This includes: * Reason for rating * Extended description * Extended solution * Exploit code or links to exploit code * Deep links Read the full description: http://corporate.secunia.com/products/48/?r=l Contact Secunia Sales for more information: http://corporate.secunia.com/how_to_buy/15/?r=l ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TITLE: AlternC Multiple Vulnerabilities SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA23144 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/23144/ CRITICAL: Moderately critical IMPACT: Security Bypass, Cross Site Scripting, Exposure of sensitive information WHERE: >From remote SOFTWARE: AlternC 0.x http://secunia.com/product/12782/ DESCRIPTION: Vincent Audet Ménard has reported some vulnerabilities in AlternC, which can be exploited by malicious users to disclose sensitive information, to conduct script insertion attacks, or to bypass certain security restrictions. 1) Input passed to parameters when creating directories is not properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious data is viewed. 2) An input validation error exists when creating files and directories. This can be exploited to create files and directories via directory traversal attacks. 3) An input validation error exists when configuring a subdomain. This can be exploited to gain read access to arbitrary files with privileges of the web server by including directory traversal sequences when specifying the web root. 4) An error exist due to the application storing the SQL password within a cookie in plaintext once the user used phpmyadmin in AlternC. The vulnerabilities are reported in 0.9.5. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Some vulnerabilities are reportedly fixed in version 0.9.6.
