The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the SLP daemon ("slpd") when processing the "attr-list" field of a registration request. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow, resulting in a crash of the service or potentially in execution of arbitrary code with escalated privileges. The vulnerability is reported in Mac OS X 10.4.8 (8L2127) on a x86 platform. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Grant only trusted users access to affected systems. Disable the service.
