The vulnerabilities are caused due to boundary errors within the IMAP service (MCRIMAP4.EXE) when processing NTLM authentication data. These can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted series of commands and data. Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code. The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 2005 SP4 (File version 5.0.15.0). Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Restrict access to the IMAP service.
