The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when processing query requests. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via an overly long (greater than 512 bytes) query request sent to default port 113/TCP (Identification Protocol). Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code. The vulnerability is confirmed in version 2.2. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Restrict access to port 113.
