The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in ldcconn and can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow by sending an overly long string to the service (default port 17781/TCP). Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code. The vulnerability is reported in the HP Controller for Cisco Local Director package on HP-UX 11.11i. SOLUTION: The vendor recommends using another tool as the package has been obsolete since 2002 and is no longer supported.
