The vulnerability is caused due to the CLAVSetting.CLSetting.1 (CLAVSetting.dll) ActiveX control including the insecure "CreateNewFile()" method, which creates a file specified as an argument. This can be exploited to overwrite and corrupt arbitrary files in the system in the context of the currently logged-in user via directory traversal attacks. The vulnerability is confirmed in version 7.0. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Set the kill-bit for the affected ActiveX control.
