Input passed via the chart name, the chart tool tip text, and the href, shape and coords attributes of a chart area is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user when generating charts. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site. The vulnerabilities are reported in version 1.0.8. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Fixed in SVN repository. http://jfreechart.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/jfreechart/branches/jfreechart-1.0.8-security/ PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: Chad Loder, Rapid7 ORIGINAL ADVISORY: Rapid7: http://www.rapid7.com/advisories/R7-0031.jsp JFreeChart: http://jfreechart.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/jfreechart/branches/jfreechart-1.0.8-security/NEWS?r1=679&r2=680 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- About: This Advisory was delivered by Secunia as a free service to help everybody keeping their systems up to date against the latest vulnerabilities.
