The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the SSH Server Service (SSHServer.exe) when handling arguments to the "opendir" command. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow by passing an overly long argument to the affected command. Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code. The vulnerability is confirmed in IpSwitch WS_FTP Server with SSH version 6.1. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Grant only trusted users access to the SSH Server Service.
