This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which is executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious data is viewed. 2) The serendipity_admin.php script fails to completely validate the extension of an uploaded file. This can be exploited to upload files with the ".html" extension, which can then be used for cross-site scripting attacks. Successful exploitation of both vulnerabilities requires valid user credentials. The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 1.2.1. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Only grant access to trusted users. Vulnerability #1 is fixed in version 1.3-beta1.
