The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the "reboot" command. This can be exploited by users in the "shutdown" group to cause a stack-based buffer overflow and allow execution of arbitrary code with "root" privileges. The vulnerability is reported in AIX versions 5.2 and 5.3.
