Learn more: http://secunia.com/network_software_inspector_2/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TITLE: Linux Kernel Multiple Vulnerabilities SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA30241 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/30241/ CRITICAL: Moderately critical IMPACT: Security Bypass, DoS WHERE: >From remote OPERATING SYSTEM: Linux Kernel 2.6.x http://secunia.com/product/2719/ DESCRIPTION: Some vulnerabilities have been reported in the Linux kernel, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to bypass certain security restrictions and by malicious people to potentially cause a DoS (Denial of Service). 1) An error exists in the implementation of the "sys_utimensat()" system call. This can be exploited to update the access or modification time of arbitrary files via specially crafted arguments passed to the affected system call. 2) A memory leak exists in the "ipip6_rcv()" function included in the IPv6 over IPv4 (SIP) tunneling driver. This can be exploited to potentially exhaust all available memory via specially crafted network packets. The vulnerabilities are reported in version 2.6.25.2. Prior versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Update to version 2.6.25.3. PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: 1) Reported by the vendor. 2) Paul Marks.
