The vulnerability is caused due to an unspecified error related to the "sendfilev()" system call and can be exploited to cause a system panic, e.g. by a local user via a specially crafted program or by creating a specially crafted web page that is being hosted on Apache 2.2.x. Successful exploitation via Apache web pages requires that Apache is compiled without certain unspecified compiler switches. NOTE: Reportedly, Apache 2.x shipped with Solaris will not trigger this vulnerability. The vulnerability is reported on Solaris 10 for both the SPARC and x86 platforms. SOLUTION: Apply patches. -- SPARC Platform -- Solaris 10: Apply patch 137111-04 or later. OpenSolaris: Fixed in build snv_96 or later. -- x86 Platform -- Solaris 10: Apply patch 137112-04 or later. OpenSolaris: Fixed in build snv_96 or later. PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: Reported by the vendor.
