The vulnerability is caused due to a NULL pointer dereference error in the Solaris Access Control List (ACL) implementation for UFS file systems, which can be exploited to cause a system panic. Successful exploitation requires that the system has mounted a UFS file system that is writable. The vulnerability is reported in Sun Solaris 8, 9, and 10 for both the SPARC and x86 platforms.
