The vulnerability is caused due to an unspecified error in Name Service Cache Daemon (nscd) and can be exploited to gain access to unauthorised information and gain escalated privileges. Successful exploitation requires that nscd is running and the "compat" mode is configured for the "passwd" entry in nsswitch.conf. This vulnerability is reported in Solaris 10 Update 4 (8/07) for both the SPARC and x86 platforms.
