The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when processing certain playlist files. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow by e.g. tricking a user into opening a specially crafted *.m3u or *.m3l playlist file. Successful exploitation allows the execution of arbitrary code. The vulnerability is confirmed in version 8.0.0.0 and is reported in version 7. Other versions may also be affected.
