The security issue is caused due to the application not properly handling group specifications defined in the sudoers file. This can be exploited to e.g. gain root access without password authentication. Successful exploitation requires that the attacker is member of a group he is allowed to sudo into without entering a password. The security issue is reported in versions 1.6.9p17 through 1.6.9p19. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Update to version 1.6.9p20. http://www.sudo.ws/sudo/download.html PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: Harald Koenig ORIGINAL ADVISORY: http://www.gratisoft.us/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=327 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- About: This Advisory was delivered by Secunia as a free service to help everybody keeping their systems up to date against the latest vulnerabilities.
