DESCRIPTION:
Xianur0 has discovered a vulnerability in Simple Machines Forum,
which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct script insertion
attacks.

The vulnerability is caused due to the application not properly
handling unclosed "[url]" BBcode tags. This can be exploited to
insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a
user's browser session in the context of an affected site when the
malicious post detail is clicked.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires that the user
actively clicks on the malicious link.

This vulnerability is confirmed in version 1.1.7. Other versions may
also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Do not follow untrusted links when logged on to the application.
