The vulnerability is caused due to the application considering an altered message signed by the S/MIME signature of an original message valid. This can be exploited to send an apparently valid S/MIME message with a signature obtained via e.g. a MitM (Man-in-the-Middle) attack. SOLUTION: Do not rely on the security provided by S/MIME signatures in Evolution. PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: Reported by Joachim Breitner in a Debian bug report.
