The vulnerability is caused due to a potential NULL pointer dereference within the "tun_chr_poll()" function in drivers/net/tun.c. This can be exploited to cause a crash and potentially execute arbitrary code with root privileges by opening and polling a tun device. Successful exploitation requires that the kernel was e.g. compiled with GCC's "-fdelete-null-pointer-checks" optimisation. The vulnerability is reported in version 2.6.30. SOLUTION: Fixed in the GIT repository. PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: Eugene Kapun. Additional information provided by Brad Spengler.
