The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the processing of "m3u" files. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow when a user is tricked into opening a specially crafted "m3u" playlist file containing an overly long entry. Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code. The vulnerability is confirmed in version 2009 R2.1.Other versions may also be affected.
