The vulnerability is caused due to an input validation error in the processing of PEAP authentication requests (Protected Extensible Authentication Protocol). This can be exploited to corrupt memory by sending a specially crafted PEAP authentication request to an Internet Authentication Service (IAS) server. Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code. NOTE: By default, no vectors exist to exploit this vulnerability on Microsoft Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 for Itanium-based Systems SP2. However, third-party applications can potentially render a system vulnerable. SOLUTION: Apply updates.
