---------------------------------------------------------------------- Accurate Vulnerability Scanning No more false positives, no more false negatives http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TITLE: dotProject SQL Injection and Script Insertion Vulnerabilities SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA38046 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/38046/ DESCRIPTION: Justin C. Klein Keane has discovered some vulnerabilities in dotProject, which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct SQL injection and script insertion attacks. 1) Input passed to the "ticket" parameter in index.php (when "m" is set to "ticketsmith" and "a" is set to "view") and the "folder" parameter in index.php (when "m" is set to "files", "a" is set to "index", and "tab" is set to "4") is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code. 2) Input passed to the "company_id" parameter in index.php (when "m" is set to "departments" and "a" is set to "addedit") is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code. 3) Input passed to the "file_folder_name" and "file_folder_description" parameters in index.php (when "m" is set to "files" and "a" is set to "addedit_folder") is not properly sanitised before being used. This can exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in the context of an affected site if the malicious folder details are viewed. 4) Input passed to the "file_description" parameter in index.php (when "m" is set to "files", "a" is set to "addedit", and "folder" is set) is not properly sanitised before being used. This can exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in the context of an affected site if the malicious file details are viewed. 5) Input passed to the "email" parameter in index.php (when "m" is set to "ticketsmith" and "a" is set to "post_ticket") is not properly sanitised before being used. This can exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in the context of an affected site if the malicious ticket details are viewed. 6) Input passed to the "forum_name" and "forum_description" parameters in index.php (when "m" is set to "forums" and "a" is set to "addedit") is not properly sanitised before being used. This can exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in the context of an affected site if the malicious forum details are viewed. 7) Input passed to the "message_title" and "message_body" parameters in index.php (when "m" is set to "forums", "a" is set to "viewer", and "forum_id", "message_id", and "post_message" are set) is not properly sanitised before being used. This can exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in the context of an affected site if the malicious forum topic is viewed. Successful exploitation of vulnerabilities #2 to #7 requires the "Project Worker" role. The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 2.1.3. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised. Grant only trusted users the "Project Worker" role. PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: Justin C.
