---------------------------------------------------------------------- Accurate Vulnerability Scanning No more false positives, no more false negatives http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TITLE: dotProject Script Insertion Vulnerabilities SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA38125 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/38125/ DESCRIPTION: Justin C. Klein Keane has discovered some vulnerabilities in dotProject, which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct script insertion attacks. 1) Input passed to the "project_name", "project_url", "project_demo_url", and "project_description" parameters in index.php (when "m" is set to projects" and "a" is set to "addedit") is not properly sanitised before being used. This can exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in the context of an affected site if the malicious project details are viewed. 2) Input passed to the "task_name", "task_related_url", and "task_description" parameters in index.php (when "m" is set to "tasks", "a" is set to "addedit", and "task_project" is set) is not properly sanitised before being used. This can exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in the context of an affected site if the malicious task details are viewed. 3) Input passed to the "task_log_name", "task_log_related_url", and "task_log_description" parameters in index.php (when "m" is set to "tasks", "a" is set to "view", "tab" is set to "1", and "task_id" is set) is not properly sanitised before being used. This can exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in the context of an affected site if the malicious task log details are viewed. 4) Input passed to various parameters in index.php (when "m" is set to "contacts" and "a" is set to "addedit") is not properly sanitised before being used. This can exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in the context of an affected site if the malicious contact details are viewed. Successful exploitation of vulnerabilities requires the "Project Worker" role. The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 2.1.3. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: The vulnerabilities are fixed in the GIT repository. Grant only trusted users the "Project Worker" role. PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: Justin C.
