The security issue is caused due to the application allowing users to execute arbitrary PHP code via the import functionality. Successful exploitation requires "access administration pages" and "import nodes" permissions. The security issue is reported in versions 6.x-2.19 and 5.x-2.3. SOLUTION: The vendor has released Node Export version 5.x-2.3 and 6.x-2.19, which implement changes in the GUI indicating the potential risk.
