The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the processing of FTP commands and can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow by passing overly-long arguments to certain FTP commands (e.g. APPE, CWD, DELE, LIST). Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code. The vulnerability is reported in UplusFtp Server 1.7.0.12 and confirmed in version 1.7.0.11 (EasyFtp Server). Prior versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: The vendor has released a fixed version 1.7.0.12 on 05-02-2010.
