The vulnerability is caused due to a NULL pointer dereference error and can be exploited to cause p4ftpd to crash by sending a specially crafted packet to port 21/TCP. The vulnerability is confirmed in version 2009.2/228098. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Grant only trusted users network access to the affected service.
