---------------------------------------------------------------------- Secunia CSI + Microsoft SCCM ----------------------- = Extensive Patch Management http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/corporate/wsus_sccm_3rd_third_party_patching/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TITLE: Red Hat update for brltty SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA39231 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/39231/ DESCRIPTION: Red Hat has issued an update for brltty. This fixes a security issue, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to potentially gain escalated privileges. The security issue is caused due to /usr/lib/brltty/libbrlttybba.so using an insecure relative RPATH (runtime library search path) set in the ELF header. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary code by tricking a user into executing an application using the library in an attacker controlled directory. SOLUTION: Updated packages are available via Red Hat Network. http://rhn.redhat.com PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: Tomas Hoger ORIGINAL ADVISORY: RHSA-2010:0181-5: https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2010-0181.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- About: This Advisory was delivered by Secunia as a free service to help private users keeping their systems up to date against the latest vulnerabilities.
