DESCRIPTION:
Secunia Research has discovered some vulnerabilities in VMware
Workstation Movie Decoder, which can be exploited by malicious people
to compromise a user's system.

1) A boundary error in the VMnc codec when processing HexTile encoded
video chunks can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow.

2) Two integer truncation errors in the VMnc codec when processing
HexTile encoded video chunks can be exploited to cause a heap-based
buffer overflow.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerabilities may allow execution of
arbitrary code by tricking a user into opening a specially crafted AVI
file.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in vmnc.dll version 6.5.3.8888
included in VMware Workstation Movie Decoder version 6.5.3 build
185404. Other versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Update to version 6.5.4 Build 246459.
