The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in lpd.exe when processing LPD requests. This can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted "Remove jobs" LPD request sent to TCP port 515. Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code. The vulnerability is confirmed in demo version 1.9. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Restrict network access to trusted users only.
