The weakness may lead to exposure of sensitive information and the vulnerability can be exploited by malicious users to conduct script insertion attacks. 1) The weakness is caused due to the install wizard displaying SQL exception messages if a connection to the database fails. This can lead to the exposure of certain sensitive information e.g. database name or the user name. The weakness is reported in versions prior to 5.4.1 2) Input passed via the user messaging module is not properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious message is being viewed. The vulnerability is reported in versions 5.3.0 through 5.4.1. SOLUTION: Update to version 5.4.2 or later.
